The Rank Foundation – Pebble Grants Programme
Description: Charities and churches can apply for funding of capital projects or for a one-off short term activity, such as an annual respite break or holiday for disadvantaged young people. Criteria: Total project cost must be less than £150,000, annual income must be less than £500,000 and the organisation must already have raised a third of total costs. BBC Children in Need COVID-19 Response Grants
Description: BBC Children in Need temporarily paused their current grant programme to enable organisations to continue to support disadvantaged children and young people aged 18 and under. Main and Small Grants will re-open February 2021. Please see elsewhere on this page. Criteria: Grant holders can apply for up to £5,000 over a six month period. Registered not-for-profit organisations can apply to the Large Grants programme for up to £80,000 over an 18-month period. Minimum: £0 Maximum: £5,000 and £80,000 Closing date: Ongoing |
Funding to Improve Local Green Spaces
Description: Grants are available to volunteer groups to run practical environmental activities which will improve local green spaces. Criteria: Priority will be given to groups which work in areas where there is substantial social or economic deprivation and involves disabled people, vulnerable people or those at risk of exclusion and encourage and involve people under 26 in practical outdoor conservation. Minimum: £50 Maximum: £250 Closing date: Applications can be made at any time but projects must be completed by February 2021. Description: Grants are available for projects that focus on improving the lives of young people aged 0-18 and encouraging church growth as young people discover faith for themselves and play an active part in church communities. Criteria: Churches and Christian organisations to help them connect with and forge lasting links with families in their area. Description: During October, November and December Tesco will be providing grants of £1000 to support projects focused on local children and young people. The type of projects funded could include mental health support for children and young people, young carers and child poverty. Criteria: Charities, voluntary or community organisations, schools, health bodies, Parish/Town Councils, local authorities and social housing providers may all apply. BBC Children in Need
Description: Not for profit organisations can apply for grants for projects that help children and young people overcome the effects of illness, distress, abuse or neglect; disability; behavioural or psychological difficulties; and poverty and deprivation. Projects funded through BBC Children in Need aim to make a difference in children’s lives that help prevent or overcome the effects of the disadvantages they face. Projects achieve these differences by either working directly with children or seeking to improve their social and physical environments. Criteria: Funding is available to charities registered in Scotland, CICs, Companies limited by guarantee with a clause in their governing document preventing distribution of profit, including social enterprises; housing associations, industrial and provident community benefit societies, religious institutions and special schools. Description: Wooden Spoon supports projects that help mentally and physically disadvantaged children, funding building extensions, equipment and activity aids. Description: Ragdoll Foundation’s vision is to support projects using the arts and creative media where the concerns of children can be heard. A variety of art forms can be supported including dance, drama, film and music. Supported projects need to support equality of opportunity, can include families and may be delivered in children’s and community centres, nurseries, schools and hospitals. Criteria: Not-for-profit organisations working with children and young people may apply. Description: The 7stars Foundation exists to support the most challenged, at-risk young people in the United Kingdom. Funding will be available across the themes of abuse, addiction, homelessness and for those who are supporting young carers. The Gambling Education and Prevention Small Action Fund
Description: This Small Action Fund is an opportunity for groups of young people to apply for funding to create, develop and complete their own local project promoting gambling education and prevention. Possibilities could be in developing ideas such as social media campaigns, digital board games and awareness-raising videos or podcasts. Funding will be used to cover the costs of developing and delivering the activity. Criteria: Groups of young people aged 12-25 in youth groups in Scotland are eligible to apply. The project will have to be completed within six months of receiving the grant. Minimum: £80 Maximum: £500 Closing date: Ongoing |
Equipment Grants for Youth Clubs
Description: Variety, the Children’s Charity, has grants available to youth organisations to buy equipment to provide challenging activities that engage young people between 8 and 18 years of age and provide them with alternatives to becoming involved in anti-social behaviour that often stems from boredom and peer pressure. Criteria: Youth organisations that are affiliated to either Ambition, UK Youth or the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs are encouraged to apply. Applicants have to raise some of the funds and applications that have young people involved in fundraising will be looked upon favourably. Description: This fund aims to enhance and develop community-based youth work in Scotland’s rural communities and has been created in response to the challenges rural youth groups are facing in funding the delivery of community-based universal youth work. It will make small awards to enable youth groups provide more and/or better youth work opportunities for young people. Criteria: Applicants must be volunteer-led and delivering in local communities. Youth Covid-19 Support Fund
Description: The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport has announced an emergency funding package to protect the immediate future of grassroots and national youth organisations. £16.5m will be available for grassroots youth clubs, uniformed youth groups, and national youth and umbrella organisations across the UK. Projects to Increase the Employment Skills of People Aged 11 or over
Description: The Thomas Wall Trust will fund projects or core activities that support literacy, numeracy digital and additional skills for people aged 11 or over in order to increase their employment prospects. Description: The Scottish Government has launched a new £1 million children’s winter clothing fund. Through the fund, Nurseries and other Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) settings can apply to the fund for help to buy winter clothing for young children who need it. The fund will be open to any setting delivering funded ELC and will ensure that three and four year olds and eligible two year old have access to suitable outdoor clothing during their time in ELC, reducing inequalities in accessing the outdoors. Criteria: The Fund is open to any setting delivering funded Early Learning and Childcare and will be managed by Inspiring Scotland’s Thrive Outdoors on behalf of the Scottish Government. Funding to Enable Disadvantaged Young People Reach their Potential
Description: The Ironmongers Company’s grants programme supports projects for children and young people under the age of 25 who are disadvantaged. Projects should consist of educational activities that develop learning, motivation and skills. These could support special educational needs, address behavioural problems or promote citizenship, parenting or life skills. Description: Children in Need provides grants for children and young people aged 18 years and under experiencing disadvantage through illness, distress, abuse or neglect, any kind of disability, behavioural or psychological difficulties or living in poverty or situations of deprivation. Funded organisations will make differences in children’s lives by working directly with children or by seeking to improve their social or physical environments. Criteria: Registered charities who have been active for three years and who can tell why they are best placed to deliver their work may apply. They will have well-developed links with young people.
