ACT Trustee
Contract type: Part-time
Location: Argyll and Bute
Salary: Voluntary
Closing Date: 25 February 2025
ACT is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation committed to caring for, enhancing, and promoting Argyll’s nature to ensure a sustainable future for people who live, work, and visit here. Since 2014, they have worked to restore nature, drive climate action, and improve outdoor learning, health, and wellbeing.
They deliver these outcomes by engaging in activities across four overarching objectives:
- To care for and enhance our unique natural environment
- To give people opportunities to experience, learn in, and be inspired by nature
- To encourage investment in Argyll’s natural capital to support our economy
- To increase opportunities for employment, skills development, and volunteering in our environment
They are a trusted partner with a proven track record in successful project management, a highly skilled and effective team, and robust governance and financial processes. There has never been a more important time for this role, as they face regional and national economic pressures alongside the existential threats of biodiversity loss and climate change.
They are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. No prior charity governance experience? No problem, they provide full induction and training.
Key Duties
- Advise on and support ACT’s strategic direction and goals.
- Approve and monitor the implementation of operational strategies and policies.
- Oversee ACT’s financial planning, budgets, and monitor progress.
Time Commitment
- Four board meetings annually (mostly online)
- Trustees will be involved in activities beyond Board meetings, including project steering groups, providing strategic guidance, and representing ACT externally when appropriate.
This is a voluntary role with expenses reimbursed.
