Funding to Improve Local Green Spaces

Description: Grants are available to volunteer groups to run practical environmental activities which will improve local green spaces.

Criteria: Priority will be given to groups which work in areas where there is substantial social or economic deprivation and involves disabled people, vulnerable people or those at risk of exclusion and encourage and involve people under 26 in practical outdoor conservation.

Minimum: £50
Maximum: £250
Closing date: Applications can be made at any time but projects must be completed by February 2021

Funding for Projects that Promote a Better Understanding of the Environment and Countryside

Description: The Nineveh Charitable Trust funds a broad range of projects and activities that promote a better understanding of the environment and countryside, whilst facilitating improved access, education and research.

Criteria: UK schools and not-for-profit organisations may apply

Minimum: £0
Maximum: £5,000
Closing date: Applications can be submitted at any time

Love Your Network

Description: The Love Your Network grant, funded by Transport Scotland, seeks to empower communities to learn more about their local routes and implement physical improvements which make journeys on the National Cycle Network more attractive and enjoyable.

Criteria: Support is available to constituted community groups, registered charities and other social enterprises.

Minimum: Grants have been changed to grant equipment and training bundles rather than money.
Maximum: As above.
Closing date: 28th May 2021

Outdoor Tourism Re-start Fund
Description: From late January 2021, adventure and marine tourism businesses in Scotland will be able to apply for a share of a new £2.5 million fund, to be administered by VisitScotland, to help them prepare for the 2021 visitor season. It's aimed at responsible tourism operators who provide sustainable outdoor related activities to visitors on land and water, from wildlife watching to charter and sailing holidays, bushcraft and survival to canoeing and mountaineering.
Criteria: The fund will support essential re-commissioning and re-start costs for businesses, aimed at those who have been significantly affected by the pandemic due to their seasonality and high set up costs associated with the activities they deliver.
Minimum:  £0
Maximum: £15,000
Closing date: Fund opening late January 2021.

Funding to Help Charities and Social Enterprises Become More Sustainable

Description: Rapid Action by the Fore and Trusts (RAFT) has launched its second phase to help organisations as restrictions are eased. Funding can be used for any purpose, including core costs, to enable grantees to strengthen their organisations, plan ahead, become more sustainable and focus on the new needs of their beneficiaries.

Criteria: Small charities and social enterprises with annual income below £500,000 and who may have found it difficult to access funding in the past are encouraged to apply.

Minimum: £0
Maximum: £15,000
Closing date: Opens for applications on 21st September 2020 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Grants to Plant Trees

Description: The Tree Council’s Branching Out Fund has grants available to get communities and young people up to the age of 21 involved in tree and hedge planting and care during National Tree Week – 28th November to 6th December 2020. Free tree packs are available for schools supported by the Tree Angel Orchards Fund.

Criteria: Schools and community groups may apply

Maximum: £1,500

Action for Marine Conservation
Description: Sea-Changers provide grants to projects which address the root causes of marine conservation threats and challenges, prevent or reduce negative impacts on UK coastal and marine environments and/or species, or add to the body of knowledge about marine conservation threats. A small amount of funding is available to projects based in Scotland that address the issue of marine litter.
Criteria: Marine conservation charities and not-for-profit organisations may apply.
Minimum: £500
Maximum: £1,200
Closing date: 31st March 2021

Free Trees for Community Groups and Schools

Description: The Woodland Trust has thousands of free tree packs to give away to community groups and schools. The trees are available for planting on an area that is accessible to the public so that it can be used and enjoyed by others.

Criteria:  If applying as a school, trees should be planted on either the school grounds, land the school has arranged regular access to or in an area that is publicly accessible.

Minimum: £0
Maximum: Unknown
Closing date: Applications are currently being accepted for trees to be delivered in March 2021.

The Cruach Trust
Description: The Cruach Trust is a small charity which provides financial support for gardeners, retired gardeners and for preserving gardens throughout the United Kingdom. Previous projects supported have included supporting a horticultural apprenticeship, arranged through the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, grants for gardens, wildlife and the natural environment and grants for music, the arts and cultural charities. The trustees also have discretion to make donations to a wide range of organisations in the UK and abroad, with charitable objectives of whatever nature.
Criteria: Funding is available to registered or recognised charities, societies, trusts or other bodies with a preference for small local and national charities. 
Minimum: £0
Maximum: £1,500
Closing date: 10th September 2021
