Volunteering Framework

Argyll and Bute Third Sector Interface undertook the development of a Strategic Volunteer Framework towards the end of 2019. This involved engaging with potential volunteers, third sector organisations and businesses around their use of volunteers. We took this information and combined it with Scottish Government’s “Volunteering for All” Framework, which was released in May 2019.
The Strategic Volunteering Framework highlights the growing difficulties in engaging volunteers in Argyll and Bute and the risk of volunteer fatigue, as well as the barriers faced by volunteers, whether actual or perceived. It also highlights good practise in relation to volunteer management, as to ensure that volunteers feel valued and can be retained over time.
It is underpinned by six core principles;

  • Choice
  • Support
  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • Recognition
  • Quality
  • Partnership
This Framework was presented to the Community Planning Partnership Management Committee in March 2020.
