Regional Heroes:
Judging Criteria; - How they support their community; - How they build our communities by their actions. There will be a prize for one member from each of our regions: Oban and Lorn; Helensburgh and Lomond; Mid Argyll & Campbeltown (MAKI); Cowal and Bute and The Islands. |
Volunteer Sports Coach of the Year (Over 25):
This award will be made to a volunteer in recognition of their contribution to sport in the school or community setting, whether virtually or in person. It is open to all volunteers over 25 who have demonstrated their enthusiasm and commitment over the past year. Judging criteria; - has been an inspiration and positive role model for participants and peers, - has given up a substantial amount of time to volunteer coaching sport, - has created a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for participation, - has motivated others to stay active, - has made a positive impact on their community through coaching sport/physical activity. |
Volunteer Young Sports Coach of the Year (12-25):
This award will be made to a young volunteer in recognition of their contribution to sport in the school, or community setting, whether virtually or in person. It is open to all volunteers between the ages of 12 and 25 who have demonstrated their enthusiasm and commitment over the past year. Judging criteria; - has been an inspiration and positive role model for participants and peers, - has given up a substantial amount of time to volunteer coaching sport, - has created a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for participation, - has motivated others to stay active, - has made a positive impact on their community through coaching sport/physical activity. |
Community Learning Volunteer of the Year:
This award will be made to a volunteer in recognition of their contribution to supporting all aspects of community learning – Adult Learning (Including Adult Literacy, Numeracy and English Speakers of Other Languages) and Youth Work, whether virtually or in person. It is open to all volunteers who have demonstrated their enthusiasm and commitment over the past year. Judging criteria; - has been an inspiration and positive role model for participants and peers, - has given up a substantial amount of time to volunteer to Community Learning, - has created a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for participation, - has made a positive impact on their wider community through Youth Work and/or Adult Learning, - has supported individuals or groups to overcome challenges and barriers |
Emergency Service Volunteer of the Year (for example first responders, fire fighters, special constables, mountain rescue etc.):

Health and Wellbeing volunteer award (sponsored by Argyll and Bute HSCP Public Health)
This award will be made to a volunteer in recognition of their contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of people and our communities across Argyll and Bute. Judging criteria; - Length of time carrying out voluntary work which impacts positively on health and wellbeing; - Level of commitment; - Impact of their volunteering to the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities in Argyll and Bute Examples of volunteer activities may include: - Providing/promoting peer support for those with disabilities or long-term physical or mental health conditions - Promoting and supporting physical activity or self-management - Advocating for health and wellbeing for those affected by certain illnesses or conditions - Improving health and wellbeing in disadvantaged and socially excluded groups - Improving the health and wellbeing of carers - or other volunteer activities thar advance people’s health or wellbeing. |
Lifetime Achievement Award:
The Lifetime Achievement Award is in recognition of an individual’s exemplary long-term commitment to volunteering. Judging Criteria; - has an established history of volunteering across any category; - has shown community spirit and provided inspiration to others, - has positively influenced the community or communities they have volunteered in. - has an outstanding contribution accumulating around 15 years of volunteering. |
