Who we are we?
North Argyll Carers Centre is an independent charity, providing person-centred emotional and practical support to unpaid carers across the Oban, Lorn and Isles area. We provide vital support to those who provide care, on an unpaid basis, to a family member or friend who due to illness, disability, frailty or addiction could not manage without their help.
The Role
You will work within the Adult Carer Support Team, planning and delivering a range of activities, for unpaid adult carers, that provide opportunities for peer support and time out from caring routines. These activities will complement our emotional and practical support and there will be a requirement to hold a caseload. Though based at our centre in Oban, you will spend much of your time working out in communities across Oban, Lorn and the Isles.
Role requirements:
- The ability to empathise and use your understanding, creativity and collaborative skills to devise activities that meet the needs and interests of unpaid carers;
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, problem-solve and work within budgets;
- Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
- Willingness to travel widely across the Oban, Lorn and the Isles to deliver events and activities for carers where they are;
- The ability to prepare reports and maintain appropriate records;
- Computer skills including the use of email, internet and Microsoft Office programmes.
- Use of a car and a current driving licence (essential.)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £24,819.60 pro rata (£20,124 actual)
