Here are the warm spaces located in each of the 4 wards in Argyll and Bute. Click the buttons below to go directly to the ward you require.

Helensburgh and Lomond

Fun First 

Fun First sessions provide warm spaces for under 5’s and their carers.
Monday : Helensburgh Library 0-5 yrs 10:00 am Rosneath St Modan’s Church Hall 9:45am
Tuesday : Rhu Community Corner House  0-5 yrs 1 pm and Cardross Library 0-5yrs 1:30pm
Wednesday: Gibson Hall Garelochead 10:00 am 0-5 yrs
Thursday: Fitness and Fun Victoria Halls 18months-5 yrs
 Friday: Helensburgh Community Hub 9:45am

Children to be accompanied by an adult, parents, carers, grandparents, child minders all welcome.

Grey Matters Active Ageing

61 West Princes Street,Helensburgh, G84 8BN

Grey Matters Active Ageing are keeping the older community in Helensburgh and Lomond warm this winter.
They have two ‘Hot Spot’ coffee mornings a week (Tuesday and Friday at 10.30) offering warm drinks and even warmer company.

They also have 10 other interest groups to tap into during the week and are adding to them all the time including more evening and weekend activities too. 

Live Argyll 

Live Argyll have launched their ‘Winter at the liveArgyll Libraries’ initiative, inviting people to use their libraries as warm spaces, and providing games, puzzles and as well as the use of library resources.

Helensburgh Community Hub

The Book Nook is open:
Mondays  2-6pm 
Tuesday 10am -2pm

Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month it is on from 11-2pm

Cove Burgh Hall

The community library in Cove Burgh Hall is open as a warm space on:

The Bridge at Helensburgh Parish Church

The Village Hub

Cardross Church Halls, Station Road, Cardross G82 5NL

Monday and Wednesday 10am-2pm


The Village Hub is a community run café to provide a meeting place on a Monday and Wednesday morning from 10am to 2pm open to the whole community. They provide home baking and beverages in the morning and at lunchtime  home-made soup and sandwiches.

Rhu & Shandon Parish Church 

Gareloch Road, Rhu, Helensburgh

Knit and natter is on Tuesdays at 2-4pm.

There is no requirement to knit!

Drumfork Community Centre

Churchill Square, Helensburgh

Open Tuesday and Wednesday in the community room from 6pm-9pm

Open to the whole community. No expectations through attendance  

Bethesda Centre

28 Colquhoun Street (on the corner of West King Street)

Weekly on Tuesdays: 10.00am – 2.00pm

Free Tea, coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits
Soup & bread will be served from 12.00 noon – 1.30pm
A warm welcoming space that you can use to read, chat, think, or work. Toddlers’ toys available. Free Wi-Fi on request.

Helensburgh Baptist Church 

7 East King Street, Helensburgh

The church has soup and cake available on a Friday from 1pm – 4.30pm. 

Open to the whole community. No expectations through attendance  

Centre 81

Garelochhead

Community Cafe open on Thursdays from 11am – 1pm. Lunch and company with optional activities too. 

3 Villages Community Hall

Home Start Lomond

Located above the MOD Police station in Churchill Square

Monday to Friday, with someone available in the office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. 

The Family Hub. While the activities vary, offering morning and afternoon events, they always welcome anyone seeking a chat or a friendly cuppa!

Cowal and Bute

Blairmore Village Hall 

Blairmore, Dunoon PA23 8TL

From 11.00 on a Thursday.

Blairmore Village Hall hosts a weekly “Drop in” on a Thursday morning. Called the Shore Hub, it is a warm and welcoming space for folk to go in for as long as they wish to. There is no charge, and if demand were sufficient, they could extend it to include a soup-and-sandwich lunch.

HELP (Argyll and Bute) Limited

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm, as a warm space for 16- to 25-year-olds. 

Lunch will be served at 1.00pm on Mon, Wed and Thursday
Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate will be available daily, and an activity programme will run, including Arts and crafts, pottery, sewing, cooking, and Movie afternoons.  There is a computer and free internet access, and a pool table.

Oban, Lorn and the Isles

An Cridhe Community Centre have a warm space open from 9am to 9pm each day. 

There is tea and coffee and free internet available.

Books, Broth, Blether

Campbell Memorial Hall, Benderloch, PA37 1QP

Thursdays 12-2.30pm

Organised by St Modan’s Church in collaboration with Bookends Benderloch. The hall is just behind the church and all are welcome.

They provide a Soup and Bread lunch, tea and coffee, an opportunity to chat and to take away books to read. This is a Free Event.

Crossroads North Argyll

Wednesdays from 11am – 1pm

Crossroads North Argyll will be providing a warm space for unpaid carers on Wednesdays from 11am – 1pm. They will be providing hot drinks, biscuits and a blether with other unpaid carers in a warm space.

Available for the duration of the project, they have made a custom Winter Warmer free membership. Just ask at Reception about the Winter Warmer membership and their team will tell you more.

MacTaggart Leisure Centre

The warm space is available anytime the centre is open from 10am – 6pm. They run lots of groups throughout the day including a lunch club for over 50’s on a Thursday between 12.30 and 2pm.

MS Centre Mid-Argyll

Every Monday 12pm to 2pm.
They will provide a warm friendly welcome, a cup of soup, hot drinks and other refreshments, free Wifi and charging points.
There will be no charge to anyone who uses the Warm Space.

Join at the Lochgair Hall, where the Lochgair Association is excited to provide a welcoming space for everyone to gather, chat, and unwind over a hot cup of tea, coffee, and a biscuit in their newly renovated hall.
