Trustee/Board Member – Financial Skills

Argyll And Bute Care And Repair is an independent registered Scottish charity that provides practical assistance, technical services, information and advice to the elderly, disabled, or those managing long-term debilitating health conditions, to enable them to remain and live in their own homes within their communities in comfort and safety for as long as they wish or is reasonably practical.

We are grant-funded mainly through the Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership and our people and services cover the whole of Argyll and Bute mainland and the islands.

Governance:

Care and Repair is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees/Directors that is comprised of individuals with skills and experience gained within a variety of sectors and disciplines, including NHS/occupational therapy, local authority councillors, health and safety, housing associations, HR, etc. Each Board member has a genuine interest in the work that we do and the well-being of our client group. The Board provides guidance and support to the Care and Repair Manager to ensure the service meets its stated priorities, aims, goals and objectives.

Board Members and Ordinary Members:

We are always keen to hear from people interested in joining as an ordinary member or Board member, especially those who may have a background working or dealing with our client group. Our Board members attend quarterly meetings plus the annual general meeting to review organisational performance, budgets and funding, H&S, staffing updates, training and other items concerning operational activity and service delivery.

Current Specific Requirements:

We try to ensure that our board always has a good breadth of skills and experience. Our previous “Treasurer” retired; therefore, we are particularly interested in recruiting someone to this important Board position who can offer strong financial skills in bookkeeping or accountancy, etc.

Salary:

Board Member positions are voluntary and unpaid, although expenses are provided for travel to attend meetings and certain out-of-pocket items when incurred.
