Sandbank’s hyperlocal Volunteer Fair!

Hyperlocal was a new buzz word to me – and it definitely fits when it comes to the up and coming Volunteer Fair in Sandbank, Cowal. Having approached the TSI for support around facilitation of the event, the Sandbank Community Development Trust has worked in close partnership with neighbour organisation Scenic Sandbank in order to offer villagers the chance to see the wide range of voluntary groups and community volunteering opportunities that exist – on their doorstep.

From the incredible nature reserve at the top of the Holy Loch through residential areas including Sandhaven, Broxwood, Finbracken and across the village itself – with its ever developing Community Inn, local businesses, marina, sailing club and bilingual Gaelic / English school and nursery… Sandbank has a lot going on – as well as being steeped in a fascinating history.

The Sandbank Volunteer Fair will see local organisations take a table in their village hall – and welcome people of all ages to hear about the array of activities taking place. Organisations will also promote any voluntary opportunities they have available; from an hour every so often as required – all the way through to becoming a member of a local committee.

It will be interesting to note the results of taking this hyper-local approach to promoting the third sector and recruitment of Volunteers.

From 10am – 12noon on Saturday 20th September, it will be a warmly welcoming event with activities for kids and light refreshments. See you there!
