How Rape Crisis work with Men who have experienced sexual violence

This training will tell you about the work that Argyll and Bute Rape Crisis do with men who have experienced sexual violence, the trainer will be Fiona McRoberts, Manager of Argyll and Bute Rape Crisis, it will cover:

  • Sexual Violence from the viewpoint of men as survivors​.
  • Consent and the Law.
  • Similarities and Differences.
  • How ABRC work with men who have experienced sexual violence, whether recent or historic.
  • ​ Around 3% – 15% of boys have experienced sexual abuse as children​.
  • Recent Police Scotland stats estimate that around 25% of victims of “other sexual crimes” (indecent exposure, making someone watch pornographic images, online abuse) are male.​
  • Around 6% of victims of Rape and Attempted Rape are male.
  • Around 13% of victims of Sexual Assault are male​.
  • 2% of men in Scotland have been raped.​
