Local lottery winner highlights the power of supporting Argyll & Bute charities
£250 Community Lottery winner shows the power of supporting local causes
When you play the Argyll Community Lottery, you’re doing more than giving yourself the chance to win a cash prize – you’re helping local charities and community organisations continue making a difference across Argyll and Bute.
That was brought home recently when one lucky supporter of Snowdrop Argyll won £250 through the Community Lottery.
The team at Snowdrop Argyll were delighted to hear the news.
“We were absolutely delighted to hear that one of our supporters won £250 through the Community Lottery. Brilliant to hear that their support has been rewarded with a win.”
Snowdrop Argyll has been supporting people across Mid Argyll, Kintyre, Islay and Jura for more than 30 years, creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, build confidence and improve their wellbeing.
Karen explained:
“At Snowdrop Argyll, we believe everyone deserves to feel they belong. For over 30 years we have been walking alongside people across Mid Argyll, Kintyre, Islay and Jura, creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, find friendship, build confidence and improve their wellbeing.
Whether through our community hub, outreach into rural and island communities, home visits, movement classes, creative activities, peer support or volunteering, our aim is always the same – helping people and communities thrive, not just survive.”
Snowdrop Argyll joined the Argyll Community Lottery after hearing about it through Argyll & Bute Third Sector Interface and saw it as another way local people could support their work while having the opportunity to win prizes themselves.
“We heard about the Community Lottery through the local TSI team. We liked the idea that local people could support local causes while having the chance to win themselves. It felt like another way for our community to stand beside us and help sustain the work that so many people rely on.”
Like many charities, Snowdrop Argyll says unrestricted funding is invaluable in helping meet the everyday costs of delivering services.
“Like many charities, it is often the everyday running costs that are hardest to fund. Grants frequently support specific projects, but it is the core costs that keep everything going, opening the doors each day, reaching people in rural and island communities, providing a warm welcome and responding when someone needs us most.
The Community Lottery helps with those essential costs, giving us the flexibility to continue supporting people wherever they are, in our centre, in their own homes or out in the community.”
For Snowdrop Argyll, every ticket sold represents more than just income – it is another person choosing to support their work and the people they serve.
“Every ticket sold is a small act of community kindness. The income helps us continue our work while giving supporters another simple way to be part of Snowdrop Argyll.
