Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Training

To support and promote the mental wellbeing of the Argyll and Bute community, Argyll and Bute HSCP is organising and advocating for a series of free courses. These courses aim to enhance knowledge about mental health, teach the recognition of early signs of suicide ideation, develop effective communication skills for discussing mental health and suicide, and inform participants about available services and how to access help when needed.

The courses are running from September 2024 through to March 2025 and are designed to

  • Improve mental health knowledge
  • Recognise the first signs of suicide ideation
  • Develop skills to talk about mental health and suicide
  • Learn about existing services and where to get help when needed
  • Build resilience

Hi,

I see you have a 2 day MHFA training course running in Oban on 19-20 Feb 2026 and also one in Bute on 30th April-1st May 2026. Are there still any spaces available on these 2 courses, please?

Hi Theresa,

That post was from August 2024 and the courses ran from September 2024 to March 2025. These weren’t delivered by us, we just helped promote them, so I’d recommend contacting [email protected] for any information on similar upcoming courses.
