Nominations are open for VOY 24

We are thrilled to announce that nominations for the Volunteer of the Year Awards 2024 are officially open as of today! This year’s ceremony will be held on the 6th of June at the picturesque Galley of Lorne Hotel in Ardfern, celebrating the tireless efforts and unwavering spirit of volunteers across Argyll & Bute.

We are excited to share that this year, we are partnering with Live Argyll, who will be generously sponsoring three key categories: Sports Coach of the Year, Young Sports Coach Volunteer of the Year, and Community Learning Volunteer of the Year. This collaboration underscores our commitment to recognising the multifaceted contributions of volunteers in our community.

Award Categories

This year, we invite you to nominate deserving candidates in the following categories:

  • Volunteer of the Year: Celebrating individuals over the age of 25 for their significant contributions to volunteering in the community.
  • Young Volunteer of the Year: Honouring our younger volunteers under 25, the future champions of volunteering in Argyll & Bute.
  • Regional Heroes: Recognising exceptional volunteers across five regions: Oban & Lorn, Helensburgh and Lomond, Mid Argyll & Campbeltown, Cowal & Bute, and The Islands.
  • Volunteering Team of the Year: Acknowledging the power of teamwork in making a meaningful impact through volunteering.
  • Volunteer Organisation of the Year: Saluting organisations that excel in coordinating and supporting volunteering efforts.
  • Health & Wellbeing Volunteer: Rewarding a volunteer’s outstanding contribution to the health and wellbeing of our communities.
  • Sports Coach of the Year: Sponsored by Live Argyll, this award goes to a volunteer making a significant impact in sports coaching within schools or the community (over 25).
  • Young Sports Coach Volunteer of the Year: Also sponsored by Live Argyll, recognising young volunteers (ages 12-25) excelling in sports coaching.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Honouring an individual’s long-term, exceptional commitment to volunteering.
  • Community Learning Volunteer of the Year: Celebrating a volunteer’s contributions to community learning and support, sponsored by Live Argyll.
