Year three – Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund

The Scottish Government’s Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund (CMHWB Fund), which is dispersed by a local partnership led by your TSI, has just finalised awarding grants for year three.

As the convener of the fund reference panel it is a real privilege to be able to review the applications each year and to see the breadth of excellent groups and projects across Argyll and Bute.  The four panel members were again joined on the reference panel by someone with lived experience and her insight and contribution was invaluable in helping to decide what was funded.

Funds to be disbursed totalled £282k but requests for support amounted to double this amount from over 70 community organisations.  Applications were particularly strong this year and indicate the level of need in Argyll and Bute.  42 groups have been supported and grant letters have been sent out.  Groups that have been unsuccessful will be offered support from their TSSA and signposted to other available funds.

With so many applications it took quite a considerable time to support and review each application.   Sincere thanks then to the TSI’s four Third Sector Support Advisers who supported each applicant to submit the best application possible, our business manager who ensured the process was administered smoothly, our database expert who rebuilt the funding platform and our panel who each spent two weeks scoring the applications.  I look forward to hearing about the case studies of the positive impact made by the fund over the next few months.

It is possible that a year four of the fund may be available but it may have fallen victim to the proposed cuts for the mental health budget next year.

Here are the lists of those organisations funded over the last three years.
