Helping each other to hold on

During lockdown I started a daily ‘Good Morning, Your Mental Health Matters’ some of you reading this may receive it and I hope you continue to find it helpful. I had intended once we came out of lockdown to stop sending them, but people shared they enjoyed them and would I start again, which I did, and now send them out once a month. Everyone is Bcc in, if you would like added to the list just drop me an email, [email protected]

I try to end the wee good mornings with a poem, recently I have started putting together wee poems of my own. This month I wrote one called Hold On

Hold On

‘’There have been many times before

It has felt the wolves are at the door

Our heads feel heavy staring at the floor

wondering if we can take it anymore

But we have persevered that’s true

by knowing its happening to me and you

and standing beside each other and caring

we have found a way even in scarcity to be sharing

So, find some time in everyday

to push feelings of despair far away

reach out in real time and connect anew

we CAN come through this

me and you’’

It made me think rather than send some ideas tips and resources about wellbeing as sometimes we get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of materials to read, instead I would offer a reflection. It is something I plan to use in the future with work I do with others. What would happen if we created space at our team meetings, community meetings and meetings with partners if we dedicated some time to sharing ideas on how we can help each other to hold on?

Thanks for reading
